$30 worth of Cedar and five hours later, I have a new chair! It was fun to make but a little time consuming, since I made some design changes from the old one I was working off of. I think you are right that the next one should go alot faster.

Did you model the chair on the one at your dad’s farm? How are you going to finish the chairs, if at all? I made mine out of some crappy pine, so I ended up painting them (or rather, Sarah did), but I really like the look of natural wood chairs. I helped my buddy Bruce create some that he varnished, to great effect.
Is there a back support there, that vertical piece behind the arm?
How is the new shop going? Get the electrical worked out yet?
