Hey Gabe,

What happened with this trap? Did you catch the culprit?

Gabe, this is fantastic! It's like an animal sized Richard Serra sculpture. It really speaks to many levels of emotions.
A while back Sarah had emailed me about some problems she was having at home. Apparently her dog had been eating out of the cat dish, it was causing some major problems for the cat. Being a problem solver my initial sketches for a solution looked much like this apparatus although instead of a gigantic slab of rock I was going to use young sapling and a snare to deter this eating machine of a dog. The biggest problem with this idea was the lack of small trees in near the cat dish. I scrapped that idea and started looking into RFID tags to end this domestic animal dispute. I was thinking the dishes could remain hidden in the wall until the appropriate animal would show up to eat.

I can't wait to see the results of your trap. I just hope it wasn't some neighbor kids who have been eating your tomatoes.
