New Lilies

img_1186-2.JPG

Here some new lilies that I have been working on for a gallery here in Des Moines.  I wanted to get these standard flowers out of the way so that I could start working on some that will be new and different.  Stay tuned, it is going to be a busy weekend in the shop!

Those are really nice looking. Can you identify the woods for me? Looks like Walnut stems, and I’m guessing Poplar for the bases. Especially curious about the red wood for the petals on the left-most flower, and the striped petals on the right-most one.

Very cool. What gallery is selling them?

You were right about the Poplar and Walnut. The other woods are: Pauduk (red wood), Yellowheart (yellow wood) and Zebrawood (striped wood). There is a gallery in downtown Des Moines called From Our Hands that has beening selling them. She wants me to make some Orchids too. But I really want to come up with a completely new and different flower. I feel that I have been catering too much to what has been selling.

Those are simply gorgeous. They’d look beautiful in so many different settings. Terrific work.

You’re getting quite a fan base, Gabe! Maybe you should start selling these things online!
