Here is the orchid that I have been working on. It took 7 hours of pretty labor intensive work to get it done. I just realized that this is the 200th post!

Wow, that is incredible, Gabe. I am so curious how you do it. How small is the spindle on your spindle sander? Do you carve the pieces at all, or just bandsaw and sand?

I do, do some carving on the inside of the petals. I like to use my Flexcut set for such intricate work. I start out by cutting the outline of the petal on the bandsaw then I shape the inside profile on my disc sander. But before I shape the outside of the petal I carve out the inside. That way I can put it in my table vise and I don’t have to carve while holding it in my hand. Once the inside is carved and hand sanded I shape and sand the outside on my sanding machine. My smallest spindle sander is 1 inch.
