mortising by hand can be tedious work. any power mortiser or joiner or router can be a joy. but there is something to be said for the craftsmen that did not have that technology. ever wonder how the dovetail joint became so prominent in an era without power tools? think about the amount of time that went into those joints before router tables! now we have the technology to produce far superior products, but mass production does not use it. in furniture frames they use unsatisfactory materials and a c & c router. but the frame designs don't fit together right. they are butt joints and staples. half the time the notched pieces don't fit tight. all that technology and no pride in workmanship! what a damned waste! i'm glad to see that you are using power tools and your mind to produce quality pieces in your work.
