I really liked Longitude a lot - that's some serious dedication to work for so long on one thing, and then have the imaginational fortitude to start over again after completion, not once, but three times!

"Sailing Alone" was also good, but in a different way - I really liked the old guy's courage and "can do" attitude. Even the hardships were like jokes - he made a sail around the world sound like a trip to the corner store!

What did you think of "Longitude" and "Sailing alone around the world"?

i ,too, have become conscious that tv is a deterrent to my creativity; and even to my passion. it is so easy to come home from work, kick off my boots, throw a pre-made meal in the oven, pour a drink, and lose myself in front of that stupid box. when i look at it, i don't have to care about anything around me. i watch the same old things over and over. if i watch something that might be meaningful i might be passionate about in that minute, but quickly forget about it the next. most of the time i can't remember what i watched the night before. it does waste what precious time we have

God Bless you on your atheist Lent. I am a recover TV addict. I am powerless over the draw of the TV. If I have a working TV I will watch it-- it is kind of like mental masterbation. At the center we have consciously not set up our TV so we only watch movies. THis is often to much for me too. I feel dirty afterwards, unless I can convience myself that it is quality TV--movies.
Peace, Paul
Hey thanks for supporting us here at the center.
You rock.

Kill the cable. Never thought I could do it, but I've been network- and PBS-only since 2000. Just don't remove my Internets!

Sounds like an interesting experiment. I can't believe you read that many books in one month!

In reference to Alexander Supertramp's careless adventures; what about train hopping, cliff jumping in freezing water and drunken spelunking?
