This rule does not apply to classic Bill Murray movies like Caddyshack, but does apply to any Bill Murray movie made in from 1996 forward. I am so sick of his melancholic middle-aged character, and I don't know what directors' obsession is with it. I think he turns good directors to bad, at least in the case of Broken Flowers. When I think about Dead Man compared to this movie, I am appalled. What a throwaway piece of junk. The music was good, though. It'd be interesting to follow the trail of recommendations back from Jim Jarmusch and see how far it goes. Did he just pick it up in a store? Did a friend recommend it? Where did you hear about it?
